CWA have worked with the UK Timber Frame association to create a bespoke, accredited training course designed to address crippling issues impacting the sector’s ability to compete, namely:

That timber frame contractors and suppliers have been competing on lowest price

That main Contractors have exerted extreme pressure

As a consequence, prices have reached their lowest possible ebb, leaving Contractors and Suppliers with no basis on which to compete.

Thus members need to find means of increasing value, not just cutting price, in order to gain a competitive advantage.

“very inspiring. I look forward to implementing in my role” – Nick Bligh, Jeld-Wen

In response, UKTFA have worked with CWA to create a bespoke training programme focused on tools and techniques to improve efficiency and create a competitive edge: the UKTFA Certificate in Collaboration and Integration.

This is comprised of 4 units introducing the principles of Collaboration and Integration and tools and techniques to implement real business improvement.

“Excellent, confident delivery, interactive and light-hearted while still informative” – David Riley, Oakworth Homes

Our first cohort completed training in January 2012, with attendees from Holbrook, Jeld-Wen, Oakworth Homes, Castleoak, Taylor Lane, Roe Ltd, Frame Homes, Oregon, Janex and the Sylva Group.

Delivery included accommodation at a local hotel with a dinner discussion chaired by Steve Green, Associate Director at Thomas Vale, directing debate around common challenges and developments.

A second course is due to follow in spring 2012.
